Is There A Way to Justify Dabra>Super Perfect Cell?

Is there any way for this to make sense? It's a semi-commonly held belief, so I was just wondering if there was any...pro SPC Dabra fans who could elucidate. Or Devil's advocates, that works too

No, I don't think so. Even if we assume Gohan used SSJ2 against Dabura, Gohan's much weaker than he was before, and he had to use all of his power during the Cell Games to defeat Cell.

"I am the bone of my sword."

You'd have to make some wild idea where Gohan used the most bizarre form of SSJ2 which shares none of the characteristics of the SSj2 form and Dabura, being his genius self, decided to hold back against Gohan so they could have a roughly even fight, despite the fact that he was ordered to get energy for Boo and was even called out on it by Babidi himself.

It's possible, I guess. Assume Gohan was a Super Saiyan 2 and Dabura was holding back against him?

I don't think so.

Goku put him in the range of Cell, but it's likely that he was putting him in the range of Perfect Cell and not SPC.

Goku never saw SPC up close, so he really wouldn't have a real context of SPC's power in order to compare Dabra to.

Not that I believe it, but what about Dabra's comment that he could totally take care of Gohan easily?

I always took that as Dabura's confidence in a second round after seeing Gohan's style already.

Pretty easy to do -

Gohan as a SSJ2 was vastly stronger than Cell, Cell just managed to get the jump on Gohan.
Gohan as a SSJ2 fighting Daubra is weaker, but Dabura is stronger, and Gohan is a little weaker.

Gohan CG 5
Gohan Buu 4
Dabura 4
Cell 3

Not that difficult.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Super Saiyan 2 Gohan and Dabura pretty darn close in power? If that's the case, which I'm pretty sure it is, then Super Perfect Cell should be much stronger than Dabura due to obvious reasons with Gohan's decrease in power over the years.

Not really, sure Dabra was confident for the second round, but in the first round he went for his sword and spit pretty quick, which tells me he couldn't take Gohan in a long drawn out fight.

Also, since this Gohan was much weaker than his Cell Games self it seems more logical for Goku to be referring to the Cell he fought. Also since Gohan was only an SSJ when they fought, it's easy to figure out which Cell was being referenced.

If it was the Cell Goku fought, him and Vegeta wouldn't need to potentially team up to beat him.

It was Super Perfect Cell the comparison was made to, and per the anime and Daizenshuu (and with respect to the coherence to the story) Gohan was an SSJ2.

The Diaz isn't perfect and in the Manga Gohan was drawn as a SSJ not ASSJ. No sparks, no ASSJ aura and no ASSJ hair means he was SSJ,

Also when Goku and Vegeta talk to Kaioshin about Dabra they both act like he's not much trouble when they reference Cell.

Not much trouble if they go at him together - a weaker Goku from 7 years ago and without access to SSJ2 was on par with that Cell. That's obviously not what they are talking about here.

I'm saying since Gohan was not drawn as an ASSJ, and then you have Goku comparing Dabra to Cell, but this Gohan is weaker than his Cell Games self...it doesn't make sense for him to be referring to Super Perfect Cell.

Nothing about Goku and Vegeta teaming up on Dabura was ever mentioned.
